A Beautifully Mixed Bouquet

A couple of years ago when my Great-Grandmother turned 85 she announced that she no longer wanted anyone to buy her presents for her birthday. She said that she had everything she needed and really just enjoyed spending her birthdays surrounded by those that she loved dearly. Everyone was a bit relieved by her announcement. She was so difficult to buy for. She already had several pair of slippers, enough knickknacks to fill her curio cabinets and plenty of chocolate candy. My cousin came up with a wonderful idea that still allowed us to give her a little something. Because "Granny" loved flowers, my cousin Anne suggested that every guest bring one flower. We arranged the many blossoms in vases. She was absolutely delighted and we decided to continue the tradition for all future birthdays.
