A Handpainted Turkey Plate |
Every year for the past several years, my son and I have painted a "turkey hand" plate at the local you-paint-it pottery shop. We paint his hand and press it into the center of a plate, then decorate the perimeter with leaves and berries. We have added another child to our family and this year both kids made a turkey hand plate. We have enough plates for each of us to use throughout the fall and a nice record of my childrens' growth as well. We've even incorporated some different seasons by doing a painted hand imprint on the plate along with a seasonal accent -- hearts for Valentine's Day or Shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day. Both grandmothers have been the lucky recipients of holiday hand plates filled with cookies from their grandsons!
