Back to School Bus Stop Buffet

My neighbor coordinates a bus stop buffet for the first day of school. She sets up a card table near the bus stop and asks parents of the neighborhood kids to bring some breakfast goodies to share. We all meet early at the bus stop and enjoy a morning breakfast complete with doughnuts, bagels, juice, and milk. The celebration helps take the edge off and relaxes the "first day" nerves for both the kids and adults. Also, the buffet is a great way for the kids and parents to get to know one another before the year starts.
