Bathtime Fun with Herman |
When I was a little girl I hated getting my hair washed because I worried about getting shampoo in my eyes. My Mom tried to get me to put my head "way back" so that no shampoo ran into my eyes, but apparently I didn't always cooperate. Then she got smart and introduced me to Herman. Herman was a spider that she claimed lived on the ceiling above our tub. Conveniently, he liked to hang out above the faucet of our tub. My Mom would always tell me to look up and put my head back so I could find Herman on the ceiling. Even though there was never really a spider there, I could always find him. (Oh, the imagination of children!) Looking for Herman always helped me keep my head back (and kept me occupied) while my Mom rinsed the soap from my hair. Even after I was old enough to know better, we always talked about Herman the friendly spider who lived on our bathroom ceiling.
