Building the Gingerbread House

Every year during the Christmas season my Mom and Sister and I build a gingerbread house together. We started four years ago and each year our houses get more elaborate. The first year we actually bought a kit for the house. The second year we designed a simple house with a design we found online. Then the last two years we've designed our own gingerbread houses. Our last gingerbread house included a pond, "stone" pathways, trees, street lights, even house inhabitants. Once decorated, our houses are then turned into the centerpiece for my Mom's table. Building the house has turned into a day long task, but we're always up for the challenge.
