Christmas Baking Event |
Every year my mom, sister, aunt and two cousins get together for a day full of holiday baking. We've been doing it since we were kids. Now that we're all adults, we take turns hosting the event. The hostess prepares a simple lunch and makes sure that there are plenty of snacks and cocktails on hand. (We usually make Mulled Cider, Spiked Eggnog, and Peppermint Hot Chocolate). We schedule the baking day for the 1st Saturday of December. Each person is expected to bring their favorite recipe, the ingredients to make six full batches and a holiday apron. In addition, we have three standing items that we make each year: fudge, sugar cookies and peanut brittle. The ingredients for the standing items are assigned by the hostess. We have a great time laughing, telling stories, taking pictures and having a grand old time. Often the event turns into a sleepover as we usaully don't finish until late in the night. It's a special event that we look forward to every year.
