ColorFest |
My family invented a new holiday called ColorFest. It occurs once every three months. We mark the days on the calendar at the beginning of the year and look forward to the celebration. ColorFest is all about the celebration of color. We started the idea one dreary January day about three years ago. Each ColorFest date is centered around one particular color. Every family member is then expected to wear that color. In addition the meals for the day are based on the color. For example, on Purple Day, we eat grapes, eggplant, grape jello, grape popsicles, plums, purple potatoes and cabbage. I often get out food dye and dye some of our standard foods the celebrated color. I frequently dye the milk, eggs, cake and more.
