Giving to a Mom in Need

My kids have always given me wonderful gifts for Mother's Day, jewelry, clothing, massages and other thoughtful gifts. A couple of years ago, they were hinting around about what I might want for Mother's Day. I thought about it for awhile and had a hard time coming up with any specific ideas, then it hit me. I asked the kids to donate the money that they would normally spend on my gift to a charity in my name. It's worked out well, the kids spend time researching a charity that they feel strongly about, they learn the valuable lesson of giving and I end up with the perfect gift every year.
