Hiding the Christmas Gifts |
Hiding the Christmas gifts has always been a tradition at our house. My husband and I have three nosy daughters that like to snoop around for their gifts ahead of time. We've made it into a game of sorts and sometimes even resort to some pretty extreme measures. One year I bought "false" Christmas presents that I hid in my bedroom closet. I was sure that they would find the gifts there. In fact, I couldn't wait until they found them. I bought some of the ugliest sweaters and bad CDs that I could find. I knew they wouldn't like them, but I thought it would be worth the effort. A couple weeks before Christmas that year, I got some pretty strange questions relating to the gifts. The girls didn't want to admit they snooped, but at the same time, they weren't happy about what they had found. Boy, on Christmas morning were they surprised when they got the sweaters, CDs and other items they requested. Than I returned the "fake" items to the store the following week.
Another year, my husband and I wrapped up some household items and included little notes inside. Previously the girls had even gone so far as to carefully remove (and replace) the wrapping paper to see what was inside. That particular year they sure got a surprise when they found our bathroom towels and household other items wrapped up along with a note that said "No Peeking Allowed. Love, Santa".
We've resorted to some pretty crazy ideas over the years, but I think that it makes Christmas even more fun.
