Keeping Baby Warm |
A cherished tradition in our family was started by my Grandmother many years ago. She makes a beautiful crocheted afghan for each new baby in the family. She started the tradition with her own children (my Mom was the first afghan recipient), then she crocheted afghans for each of the grandkids and now she’s even made two for great-grandchildren. She always makes sure the afghan is ready several weeks before the due date so it can be hand-delivered (or in some cases, shipped) to the expectant mother. The tradition has always been that this beautiful hand-crocheted blanket is used for bundling up the baby on their trip home from the hospital. Each quilt has survived lots of love and provided much warmth over the years. My quilt (now 25 years old) is always neatly folded up on the living room sofa.
