Learn Your World

Like many kids, my children spend a lot of hours in front of the television. I make an effort to monitor both the amount of time they spend watching as well as the shows they are allowed to watch. A few months ago I decided to add another component to our television experience. I bought a very large world map to hang on the wall in our basement family room where we do a majority of our TV watching. Now whenever a television show mentions a city or state, my children take turns trying to find it on a map. It definitely adds an element of education, interactivity and fun to a normally passive experience. My kids, all big sports fans, can easily identify the cities of each of the NFL and NBA sports teams.
