My Pumpkin Collection

I always look forward to fall. I love the colors and really enjoy decorating my house for the season. I started a tradition several years ago to tie in with my fall decorating. Every year I add one special pumpkin to my fall collection. (To remember the year I bought the pumpkin, I use a black permanent marker to write the year in an inconspicuous spot.) Over the last ten or fifteen years I've amassed an entire collection of pumpkins. (Since others know of my collection, I’ve also received many special pumpkins as gifts.) Most of the pumpkins are arranged in a display in my front hallway. The remaining pumpkins are scattered throughout the house. I love when mid-September rolls around and I drag out my fall storage bins. I carefully unwrap all the pumpkins and remember back to the year I bought it… the year we moved into our new house, the year I turned 30, the year my niece was born, etc. I spend almost an entire day arranging the pumpkins and other fall treasures. By the time I’m done, the house has a cozy harvest feeling. The entire collection stays up until after Thanksgiving and the pumpkins are replaced by Santas.
