Thanks from the Old World

My husband's family is from Germany. He came over to the United States for college and has lived here ever since. We wanted to encourage our kids to communicate with their family members in Germany, but our kids were not too excited about formal language lessons. We decided to place stickers with German words on objects throughout the house to familiarize them with simple nouns. As the kids mastered those we added more challenging phrases and words. Their German improved and they had a much easier time communicating with their German-speaking family members.
