The Big Butterfly Release

We have a big butterfly release party at our church every Easter Sunday after our service. Our minister tells the Easter story and explains how Jesus died and was buried in a cave. After 40 days he rose from the dead to save us. Pastor Terry explains how the caterpillar in its cocoon is similar to Jesus' body wrapped in cloths and put in the cave. He then tells everyone that when the beautiful butterfly emerges it's like Jesus rising from the dead and how it's such a wonderful sign of life. Everyone in attendance eagerly waits for the butterflies to be released. It's such a beautiful and moving event for both kids and adults, plus it helps my young children better understand the Easter story.
