The Family Gratitude Journal

Each year at our Thanksgiving dinner we have to share what we're thankful for. Unlike many families that go around the table and say what they are thankful for, we write our thanks down in the Family Gratitude Journal. It's an elegant looking notebook that is kept at my Grandmother's house. The tradition all started many years ago. My uncle wasn't comfortable being put on the spot at Thanksgiving when we went around the table saying what we were thankful for so he suggested that we give our thanks in a more personal and memorable way. We all brainstormed and came up with the idea of the journal. I've found the journal gives people more opportunity to share without being put on the spot. It also provides the family with a keepsake that can be looked back on year after year.
