The New Year's Resolution Box

When my daughter Emily was eight we decorated a small cardboard pencil box to house her New Year's resolutions. We covered it with pretty paper, added some stickers, cut out her name from red construction paper and added some glitter. The box turned out beatifully. Every year for the last four years, we've sat down together on New Year's Eve and discussed her resolutions for the next year. She writes them down and places them in the box which is then placed on her bookshelf. Occasionally throughout the year we'll review her progress toward her resolutions and then on the next New Year's Eve we take out the box and see how the year turned out. We also start the cycle again by making new resolutions for the next year.
