The Peppermint Pig

The Santa Video>

As long as I can remember our family has celebrated the tradition of the Peppermint Pig at Christmas. In the old days the pig was a symbol of health, prosperity and happiness. So it became tradition that after the family holiday dinner, the peppermint pig would be placed in a cloth bag and smashed with a hammer so that everyone could share the pieces in hopes of good fortune for the coming year.

~Alan, Bedford, PA

The Peppermint Pig is a tradition that dates back to the 1880's in Saratoga Springs, NY.
