The Progressive Dinner Party

Twelve years ago my three best friends and I started a Holiday Progressive Party. It gives us a chance to dress in our holiday best and spend some quality time with each other at Christmas. We have drinks and appetizers at one house, soup and salad at the next, the main course at the next and finally we have dessert and after-dinner drinks at the last house. The progressive dinner is a good chance for everyone to show off their home for the holidays, but yet not get burdened with preparing for a full dinner party. We pick the date for the dinner a year ahead of time to ensure that there are no conflicts. It’s become such a special evening for my friends and their husbands that we’ve only had two people miss a dinner in twelve years!!
