Timeout for Positive Things |
When my kids get out of hand fighting with one another I call a "timeout". Unlike traditional timeouts, that means I get out a pad of paper and pencil for each kid and they are expected to write ten positive things about their sibling. It forces them to break from what they are doing and re-focus their energy on the positive. It's been so successful that I've even tried it a few times with my husband when we start fighting. Focusing on the positive really makes you appreciate those that you love.
